The small town of Dookie is 220 kilometres from Melbourne and has a population of just 250 people.
Dookie was one of five small towns across Victoria to win a grant from Regional Arts Victoria worth $350,000 to transform their town through art.
The project they pitched is called 'Dookie Earthed', a 12 hour festival of film, lectures, storytelling and music and it's on this Saturday.
In the lead up to the festival, local Andrew Sands used a leaf-blower to spray-paint his Holden Rodeo ute with red Dookie soil, and Serana Hunt has been taking portraits of Dookie residents that will be projected onto the town's silos at night.
Hunt and another member of the Dookie Arts organising committee, Leiticia Harmer, discuss the events planned for Dookie Earthed, and why festivals like this one are important to small towns.
